This includes making reasonable adjustments for people who have a disability or long-term health condition. Please contact recruitment_UK@aptia-group.com to find out how we can assist you.
Examples of how and in what respect we can help you:
- Paying for a Sign Language interpreter (BSL and ASL)
- Allocating additional time to complete assessments or presentations during an interview
Our global network of offices offers good access for disabled people.
We may be able to make other adjustments for those who face barriers to applying for a job and attending an interview. For example, those who have caring or religious commitments.
- Once you have submitted your resume via our online system, it will be reviewed and assessed by our in-house recruitment team. They may wish to speak with you to check some information in your resume or to discuss your application in more detail.
- If your resume is satisfactory, it will be passed on to the relevant manager for their review.
- The recruitment team will let you know if you’ve been selected for an interview or not. We do tend to get a large number of applications for each role; therefore, we are unable to give personal and specific feedback to every applicant.
Prepare for your interview
We will contact you with some date and time options to choose from, as per your convenience. We’ll also tell you about the interviewer (or interview panellists) and whether you need to prepare for anything in advance or complete a test as part of the process.
For most jobs, there will be at least two interview stages, each one along with any test or presentations, will focus on how well you meet the requirements for the role.
You should review your resume and the job description. Be prepared to:
- Tell us about your relevant skills and experience in a 5 to 10 minute summary.
- Give specific examples that demonstrate your experience – we recommend using the 'STAR' method which focuses on the situation, task, action and result of the specific situation you are describing.
- Explain why you are leaving your current role, why you want the job and why you'd like to work at Aptia.
- Ask the interviewers relevant questions, for example about the role, team and potential challenges.
- If we’ve asked you to give a presentation, practice it beforehand and make sure you keep to time.
Interviews usually take place online using Microsoft Teams. However, you may be invited to one of the Aptia offices (address will be provided).
If the interviews are scheduled at an Aptia office, familiarise yourself with the route in advance to avoid any last-minute delays.
Please advise your recruiter if you need adjustments or assistance when attending an Aptia office.
The interview will be an ideal opportunity for you to find out more about Aptia, the job role and the team involved. You may get the opportunity to meet your future manager, team colleagues and some of the stakeholders, either online or in person.
Some interview dos and dont’s
Do:
- Check for any travel disruptions.
- If driving, check for local parking and ensure you allow plenty of time to park then walk to the office.
- If visiting an Aptia office, arrive 10 minutes before your interview. You will typically need to register at the reception or wait for lifts.
- If joining an MS Teams call make sure you are in a quiet, comfortable environment where you are not likely to be disturbed.
- Have a positive attitude. Be truthful about your skills and experience. Keep calm.
- Ask the interviewer or panel to repeat a question if it’s not clear.
Don’t:
- Leave your mobile phone on.
- Leave your radio or television on, if at home.
- Join the MS Teams call whilst walking down the street or similar.
- Ramble – there's limited time for questions so keep your answers succinct.
We’ll be in contact with you as soon as possible after the interview to get your thoughts and feedback, and to answer any questions you may have. We may also be able to let you know the outcome at that point.
If successful, we'll ask you for references. In some cases, we may do additional checks, which can vary from country to country, but may include a criminal record check, credit history, academic or professional qualifications (if appropriate to the role).
Equity, diversity and inclusion is a priority at Aptia. We are committed to cultivating a fair and inclusive environment, where everyone can be their authentic selves, enjoy their work and thrive.
